STAGE READING
"Sobre cómo romper un corazón" by Jorge Schultz
Sobre cómo romper un corazón (How to Break a Heart) is a theatrical exploration of heartbreak in the digital age. Told through a queer lens, the play avoids both idealization and victimization, offering instead a raw, poetic, and at times absurd meditation on emotional collapse and the struggle to move on.
Structured as a fragmented emotional journey, the narrative follows a single protagonist across multiple surreal scenarios—a hospital, a TV interview, a courtroom, a support group, even a spaceship—each scene reflecting a different phase of grief, obsession, denial, or rage. The play is not about queer love as a political struggle; it is about love that happens to be queer, and about the universal pain of letting go.
Rather than offering answers or redemption, the work invites us to inhabit discomfort, contradiction, and longing—capturing the dissonance of contemporary relationships in times of speed, fear of intimacy, and emotional burnout.
